BLUE & RED LIGHT THERAPY FOR ACNE
This treatment utilizes a FDA approved medical device with Blue LEDs in conjunction with Red LEDs to:
How does it work?
P. acnes (Propionibacterium acne) is one of the key bacteria responsible for inflammation in acne. This bacterium produces natural chemicals called poryphyrins, which are sensitive to light at different wavelengths. Blue LED Light neutralizes the bacteria that cause the redness and inflammation of acne and Red LED Light has anti-inflammatory properties. A series of Blue & Red Light treatments help to decrease redness from acne and promotes healthier skin.
Who can benefit from this series of Blue & Red Light Therapy treatments?
Anyone suffering with mild to moderate inflammatory acne.
Is this treatment painful?
NO! This is a noninvasive painless treatment.
What results can be expected from a series of treatments?
Optimum results will be seen between 4-8 weeks after treatments. The light stimulates natural processes that go on after the treatment has stopped. Studies have shown complete clearance of lesions, in some patients. On average, 81% of acne lesions clear.
How many treatments will I need?
Over the course of four weeks, eight treatments will be administered, alternating between blue and red LEDs.
How long do the effects last?
For most patients, acne is gone for six months. In some cases, touch-up treatment (typically two to four treatments) may be necessary.

Allure Hair Removal Guarantee
We use Palomar's Pulsed Light Hair Removal System for a fast, comfortable, and PERMANENT alternative to plucking shaving, and waxing.
We have both Laser and Intense Pulse Light for permanent hair removal. We use Intense Pulse Light the majority of the time because it is more comfortable for the patient.
Long-lasting results
This technology works by emitting pulses of intense lamplight into the hair follicles, disabling the cells from growing new hair.
Comfort
Traditional waxing and threading treatments, which essentially rip the hair from the skin, can be quite painful. Most people, however, find Palomar Pulsed Light treatments to be significantly more comfortable.
Laser vs. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
Both IPL and laser have been approved by the FDA for "permanent hair reduction" (80% permanent hair removal); usually achieved by either method in 6 to 8 treatments. Many patients find IPL treatments to be more comfortable than laser treatments.
Another advantage of IPL is its effectiveness on both dark and light colored hairs (because it delivers a wide spectrum of light) as opposed to lasers that treat only dark hairs (each laser delivers only a single wavelength of light). Treatments are also usually faster with IPL and immediately after treatment, patients are usually much less red and therefore able to return to their normal activities without anyone knowing they had a procedure done.
Safety
Palomar's Pulse-Light Hair Removal System has been FDA-approved for its safety in all skin complexions. (Some lasers and other light-based systems are not approved for use on tanned or dark skin due to the risk of burning the skin).
IPL/PHOTOCIAL
A "photofacial" is a treatment to improve the appearance of aging skin with the use of non-ablative lasers or light sources. Our Intense Pulsed Light System removes/lessens skin discolorations such as age/sun spots, rosacea, and spider veins on the face.
Our photofacial treatments are usually performed in less than 45 minutes with little or no subsequent down-time. Usually patients can return to their normal activities the same or next day.
What improvement will I see?
Patients have a high degree of satisfaction with our photofacials. Many have seen 70% to 90% improvement with a series of treatments, resulting in smoother and more even toned skin.
How many treatments will I need?
For optimal results, a series of 5 treatments are recommended. Some patients see significant improvement in 2 to 3 treatments; others require more. Follow-up treatments may be desired once a year to maintain results.
BOTOX® COSMETIC
What is BOTOX® Cosmetic?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein approved for the temporary treatment of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows in people ages 18–65.
What is the procedure like?
It’s a simple, quick nonsurgical treatment consisting of a few tiny injections with no subsequent downtime. The doctor decides exactly where to administer BOTOX® Cosmetic for the best results. The diagram below demonstrates the usual sites of injection for treating frown lines between the eyebrows:

BOTOX® Cosmetic is also often used to treat horizontal wrinkles on the forehead and wrinkles on the sides of the eyes (crow’s feet).
How does BOTOX work?
With a few tiny injections, BOTOX® Cosmetic blocks the release of acetylcholine, the chemical that causes muscles to contract. With less movement, the skin surface gradually smoothes out and the lines begin to fade.
How can I be sure I’m getting real BOTOX® Cosmetic?
In Florida, only licensed physicians with specialized Botox training can purchase BOTOX from Allergan, Inc., the manufacturer of BOTOX® Cosmetic; and each box and vial of BOTOX has the official “Allergan” hologram label.
Is the procedure painful?
In our office, patients usually experience little discomfort with Dr. Lloyd’s BOTOX injection technique.
What are the side effects?
The most common side effects following injection of BOTOX® Cosmetic generally include temporary eyelid droop and nausea. As with any injection, localized pain, bleeding, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bruising are possible side effects. However, the great majority of our patients experience minimal if any side effects.
Will I need anesthesia?
No.
When will I start to see results?
You should start to see a visible improvement within a few days. The area may continue to improve for up to 1-2 weeks.
How long will the results last?
With proper unit dosing, the effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic usually lasts for 3-4 months.
How will BOTOX® Cosmetic affect my facial expressions?
With proper dosing and placement BOTOX® Cosmetic helps to smooth out wrinkles without affecting your ability to laugh, smile, or otherwise express yourself.
Is BOTOX® Cosmetic expensive?
Actually, BOTOX is one of the most affordable cosmetic medical procedures available. Our treatment price is $12 per unit. The usual dosage for the treatment frown lines between the eyebrows is 20 Units (=$240). Typically, treating the horizontal forehead lines or the crow’s feet costs even less because they require less units of BOTOX.
History of BOTOX
Researchers discovered in the 1950s that injecting overactive muscles with tiny quantities of botulinum toxin type A decreased muscle activity by blocking the release of acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction, thereby rendering the muscle unable to contract for a period of 4 to 6 months.
In 1980, Dr. Alan B Scott, MD, a San Francisco ophthalmologist, first used botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A) in humans to treat strabismus (‘crossed eyes’). In 1989, BTX-A (BOTOX) was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of strabismus, blepharospasm (uncontrollable tremors of the eyelids), and hemifacial spasm in patients over 12 years old.
Several opthamologists who used BOTOX for eye muscle disorders noted wrinkle reduction in the areas treated with BOTOX. This lead to clinical trials and subsequent FDA approval of BOTOX for cosmetic use (BOTOX Cosmetic) in 2002. BOTOX has also been approved for the treatment of excessive underarm sweating.
BOTOX manufactured by Allergan Inc., is the only botulinum toxin type A approved for use in the U.S. Dysport is the brand name for botulinum toxin type A developed and manufactured in the UK and is used in several countries world wide. Neuronox is the brand name for a new botulinum toxin type A manufactured by Medy-Tox Inc in South Korea.
Interesting Facts About BOTOX
Important Safety Information
The most common side effects following injection include temporary eyelid droop and nausea. Localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising may be associated with the injection. Patients with certain neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome may be at increased risk of serious side effects, and therefore, should not receive BOTOX
DERMAL FILLERS
Our most popular dermal filler is hyaluronic acid-(Brand Names: Juvederm and Restylane). These fillers are used to fill Nasolabial Folds (folds between corners of nose and corners of mouth) and other wrinkles.
What is hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid is a natural complex sugar found in all living cells, and one or the major components of the dermis connective tissue matrix, along with collagen and elastin. Hyaluronic acid retains water like a sponge, absorbing more than 1000 times its weight. This helps to attract and maintain water, hydrating your skin and increasing its volume and density.
How long do dermal fillers last?
Juvederm lasts approximately 12 months, and comes in 0.8 ml syringes. Restylane lasts about 6 months and comes in 1.0 ml syringes.
How soon will I see the results?
What is really nice about these treatments is that the results are immediate! Often the wrinkle or fold will be diminished by 50 - 80% or more depending upon the amount of filler used.
Do the injections hurt?
Restylane and Juvederm products are injected directly into the skin in small amounts by an ultra fine needle. As with all injections, some patients may experience discomfort. To increase your comfort, our doctor will assess your need for pain management and determine what technique is right for you.
ARTEFILL
An innovation in safe, enduring wrinkle correction!
ArteFill is the first and only FDA-approved non-resorbable injectable filler for the correction of wrinkles known as smile lines. It contains 20% tiny round and smooth particles (PMMA micro spheres) and 80% purified bovine collagen gel with 0.3% lidocaine, an anesthetic.
How is ArteFill different from temporary dermal fillers?
All temporary fillers are eventually absorbed by the body. That’s why they require frequent repeat injections. ArteFill is different. The unique micro spheres in ArteFill are not absorbed by the body. These micro spheres provide the permanent support your skin needs for long-lasting wrinkle correction. Now, with ArteFill, you can get the lasting wrinkle correction you want in just one or two treatments. Where the results of temporary fillers end, the long-lasting benefits of ArteFill continue.
How does ArteFill work?
ArteFill is a dual-action injectable wrinkle filler. First, ArteFill visibly corrects the wrinkle. Then the micro spheres provide the permanent support your skin needs for long-lasting wrinkle correction.
How does ArteFill Treatment compare to temporary fillers?
The treatment itself is similar. It involves injections with a fine needle and takes only a few minutes. You can resume your normal activities immediately.
Is ArteFill Safe?
Yes. The FDA has approved ArteFill for the safe and effective correction of smile lines. Before your initial treatment with ArteFill, a skin test must be administered at least 28 days prior to your first scheduled ArteFill treatment to screen for an allergy to the anesthetic and bovine collagen in ArteFill.
Can anyone have ArteFill treatments?
No. Some people are not good candidates for ArteFill. ArteFill is contraindicated in those who:
VELASHAPE
Velashape is a FDA approved treatment for contouring, shaping and slimming. Velashape is a nonsurgical alternative to liposuction.
How does it work?
Velashape uses a combination of thermogenic energies to reduce the volume of fatty tissues in the treatment area. In addition, the vacuum and tissue manipulation evens out the skin to reveal a smoother, tighter figure.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments varies for each individual, but typically a series of 4 treatments are performed once a week. Each treatment generally takes 20 to 40 minutes.
Does it hurt?
Treatment is safe and effective for all skin types. Most patients find velashape comfortable - like a warm deep tissue massage. The treatment is designed to accommodate your sensitivity and comfort level. It is normal to experience a warm sensation for a few hours post treatment. Your skin may also appear red for several hours.
How quickly will I notice a change?
Gradual improvement of the treated area can be seen following the first treatment - with the skin surface of the treated area feeling smoother, firmer and tighter. Results in circumference and cellulite reduction will be most apparent 6 to 8 weeks following the final treatment session.
LIPOTHERAPY
What is Injection Lipotherapy?
Lipotherapy is a procedure during which specific medication is directly injected into undesired fat deposits. The active substance phosphatidylcholine is a natural, effective and safe compound produced from soy beans. The body uses the same substance in a number of chemical pathways, particularly in the field of fat metabolism.
Lipotherapy is a non-surgical procedure that does not require hospital admittance, general anesthesia, or downtime. Liposuction is surgery. The ideal candidate is a person that is in good health, exercises regularly, is within 25 lbs of their ideal body weight, and has deposits of fat that have not responded to exercise.
Lipotherapy is not for weight reduction; however it can be used to reduce localized fat deposits that are unresponsive to diet and exercise. The medication is directly injected into the fatty area, and stimulates fat loss in the areas injected
What areas can be treated?
Areas that have been responsive to lipotherapy include; under the jaw (“double chin“), sides of jaw line (“jowls”), mid back (“bra rolls”), waist, lower abdomen, sides of abdomen (“love handles”), under buttocks (“banana roll”), under eyes (“eye bags”) and outer thighs (“saddle bags”).
How many treatments are needed?
The number of treatments differs from person to person, depending upon body region and body size. As a rule, 4 treatments in intervals of 2-4 weeks are necessary to successfully complete the treatment. Due to the differing structure of the connective tissue and fat cells, it has been found that men may need more treatments than women in general.
How long is the Lipotherapy recovery period?
The treatment requires no downtime and the patient may return to work or resume normal activities directly after treatments. Typically patients experience temporary swelling and an aching sensation that are reduced by wearing a compression garment such as a waist cincher.
MICRODERMABRASION
Microdermabrasion is a skin-freshening and resurfacing technique that helps repair facial skin that takes a beating from the sun and the effects of aging. At Allure Cosmetic Medical Center, our doctor uses a device called the DiamondTome. The DiamondTome wand has polishing action of diamond chips and the cleaning action of a vacuum. It is moved across the face, mixing gentle abrasion with suction to remove the dead, outer layer of skin. As with other skin rejuvenation techniques, more than one treatment may be needed to reduce or remove fine wrinkles, acne scarring, and unwanted pigmentation.
What Is The Procedure Like?
If you've been looking for a sensible skin-smoothing strategy, now you've found it. Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical exfoliating procedure for both men and women. Performed one time or in a series, it can revitalize the skin's youthful appearance and smoothness.
What Does It Treat?
In addition to the face, microdermabrasion resurfacing can be successfully used on the neck, back, shoulders, arms, hands, and legs. This rejuvenation method is generally indicated for:
Microdermabrasion also promotes the production of new cells in the basal (deepest) layer of the dermis. It can clean your pores incredibly and hinder any future break outs if used on a regular basis. Microdermabrasion also stimulates collagen production to further even out skin texture and appearance.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Treatment series vary from four to ten sessions depending on the condition being treated and the type of skin. It is recommended that you schedule an additional treatment every 1 to 3 months to maintain your skin in excellent condition. Most patients actually feel and see a difference just after one or two treatments but schedule additional treatments to increase this improvement.
When Will I Notice The Results?
Your skin will feel vibrant and healthy and you will notice an immediate difference in your softer, smoother skin. There is virtually no recovery time, no discomfort and you can return to work immediately. A series of microdermabrasion treatments can help reduce the look of fine lines, superficial wrinkles, large pores, and blemishes.

LASER TATTOO REMOVAL
Dr Lloyd has performed hundreds of Laser Tattoo Removal treatments. She is experienced in working on all skin types and endeavors to give patients the best cosmetic result possible. All of our Laser Tattoo Removal treatments include Free Gentlewaves LED treatments to enhance the healing process.
How Does It Work?
Our Tattoo Removal Laser emits a beam of laser light that passes harmlessly through the outer layer of the skin and is absorbed by the tattoo ink. As the light is absorbed, it is converted to heat. This all happens within a tiny fraction of a second, and the sudden rise in temperature within the tattoo breaks the ink into tiny particles. White blood cells then carry away these particles to be naturally eliminated by the body.
What Kinds of Tattoos Can Be Treated?
Tattoos of all sizes and colors can be treated. However, tattoos with multiple colors usually require more treatments. Black tattoo ink usually responds the quickest; green and purple typically respond more slowly. In general, most tattoos can be successfully treated, given a sufficient number of treatments.
Does It Hurt?
Most patients experience moderate discomfort. Taking Tylenol and applying a cold compress to the tattoo before treatment can both help to decrease the pain of the laser treatment. The sensation of the laser pulses is often described as feeling like “heated rubber band snaps.” If the treatment is too uncomfortable, our physician can numb the area with local anesthesia, at no additional cost to you.
How Long Does It Take?
Depending on the size, colors, and location of the tattoo, each treatment usually takes about 5 to 20 minutes. Some faint tattoos will fade completely after only one treatment, although most tattoos require 5 to 10 treatments to remove. Treatments are usually spaced six to eight weeks apart to give your body sufficient time to fully eliminate loosened particles of ink.
Are There Any Side Effects?
Because the laser beam does not penetrate beyond the skin, side effects are rare. When side effects do occur, they are usually mild and confined to the treatment area. After a treatment, redness, swelling and blistering can occur, but these are temporary effects that can be minimized with cold compresses. Scarring is rare when patients adhere to post treatment instructions.
What Are The Alternative Treatments?
Laser tattoo removal is considered the best way to remove a tattoo with the least risk of scarring. The alternatives to laser tattoo removal include surgical excision, electric or infrared cauterization (burns the skin), salabrasion (using abrasion and salt to remove layers of skin), and aggressive chemical peels (chemically removes layers of skin). These alternate methods can be quite painful and often cause scarring.
THERMAGE®
The Thermage® procedure is a wonderful way to look younger without the expense or down time of surgery. This procedure employs a patented radiofrequency (RF) technology that has been clinically proven to tighten and gently lift skin to smooth out wrinkles and renew facial contours. This incision-free procedure is fast and easy, and requires no down-time from normal activities. The procedure can be performed on patients of all skin types. Thermage® is the inly FDA approved procedure to tighten facial skin without surgery.
What Is The Procedure Like?
The Thermage® procedure usually takes 1 - 2.5 hours depending on the size of the treatment area. During the Thermage® procedure, the deep layer of the skin is being heated with radiofrequency energy while the outer layer of the skin is being cooled with a cryogen. In response to the heat, the collagen in the deep layer of the skin contracts. Over time, new and remodeled collagen is produced to further tighten the skin, resulting in healthier, and smoother skin; and a more youthful appearance.
When Will I See Results?
Visible tightening improvements usually appear gradually over 2 to 6 months after a single treatment session. However, many patients have reported seeing an earlier response.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Unlike many laser procedures requiring four or more sessions, a single Thermage® treatment has produced results in the majority of patients.
How Long Do The Results Last?
The Thermage® procedure causes immediate tightening of the collagen structure, with dditional tightening over time. Published clinical research has shown sustained results lasting 1 year; and in unpublished reports, results are seen lasting 2, 3, and more years.
BODY BY THERMAGE
Thermage is a unique non-surgical procedure, FDA approved for skin tightening and body contouring. Thermage can be used to tighten and lift tummies, thighs, buttocks, and more.
How does it work?
The Body Shape Procedure by Thermage utilizes radio frequency to heat collagen fibers in both the skin and fat layers of a treatment area, to tighten the skin and reduce the size of the fatty area. During each pulse the outer layer of the skin is cooled while the deeper layers of skin and fat are being heated to induce collagen tightening.
How many treatments will I need?
What’s really nice about Thermage is that only one treatment is usually needed to achieve visible results! Typically after a Thermage treatment, a subtle improvement is seen immediately. Then more improvement is progressively noted for up to about six months after the treatment.
Patient 1
Patient 2
Does it hurt?
Moderate discomfort is to be expected, since the collagen must be heated sufficiently in order to achieve the tightening effects. Most patients can tolerate the procedure by just taking extra strength Tylenol one hour before the procedure. Pain management will be discussed during your consultation. Our physician can prescribe pain medication to those who need it. Treatment is safe and effective for all skin types.
What areas of the body can be treated?
The Body Shape Procedure by Thermage helps Tighten, Firm, and Shape the Abdomen, Upper Arms, Thighs, and Buttocks. In a single treatment and without surgery, needles, or downtime; Thermage can reduce the size of a waistline or reduce the dimples of cellulite!
